Sara’s Top 5 Albums of 2012

1. Divine Fits – A Thing Called Divine Fits

Britt Daniel and Dan Boeckner, from the bands Spoon and Wolf Parade, respectively, formed this band early in 2012. The result of their collaboration is incredibly danceable pop/rock. My top pick for the past year, for sure.

2.Reptar – Body Faucet

This bouncy indie band out of Athens, Georgia stayed on repeat for easily two weeks.

3. Lemolo – Kaleidoscope

Haunting beautiful vocals and lyrics define this duo.

4. Miniature Tigers – Mia Pharoah

These boys can do nothing wrong, in my opinion. This is their third full length release, and rumor has it they are working on the next.

5. Geographer – Myth

My latest discovery, with music that pushes against a post punk/ new wave electronic vibe.

So, kids, there you are.
Music I am anxiously awaiting in 2013: Franz Ferdinand’s new album. It has been four years, already!!!

Matt Mulholland: genius

Matt Mulholland hails from Wellington, New Zealand.
He is a musical genius. He specializes in acapella multi-tracks; a recording, within which, each instrument and each vocal is recorded onto separate tracks. his The Matrix and Back to the Future multi-tracks are phenomenal examples. cash for gold? do you love South Park?
that is not all he does. he plays the recorder, covers all sorts of genres, and helps us sort our shit out.

did your mind get blown whilst watching Inception? Matt has your back.

i don’t know how i would sort my shit out without Sort Your Shit Out.

Lemolo @the Tractor

this weekend I went to see Lemolo at the Tractor Tavern. The Tractor is not my preferred venue, as they do not serve food. it is a little on the smaller side with a country ambiance, complete with cowboy boots hanging from the ceiling.

the girls that comprise Lemolo, Meagan Grandall and Kendra Cox, were as cute as can be. their set was nearly as long as their sound check, but once they started, they really brought it. huge sound coming from a band of two. my favorite song, Open Air, was missing from their set list, but I will condole myself with this video…
